Ideas, not availability checks. Confirm your choice in X’s username settings. A missing profile does not guarantee that a handle can be registered. How to change your handle ↗
Enter your name, brand or a short keyword. Add a topic if you want your handle to hint at what you post about.
Choose a style, set a length and generate. Save favorites with the heart while you explore other batches or styles.
Copy a handle or your whole shortlist. Check the final choice in X’s username settings before you build your profile around it.
Use these 24 example handles as starting points. They illustrate the tool’s naming patterns; none has been checked for availability. Replace the example name with yours or try a different subject.

Keep the combination light and easy to remember. Short everyday words often work better than unusual spelling or repeated punctuation.
A Twitter handle generator helps with the short address after @. Your display name gives you more room to introduce yourself. Choosing the right field avoids trying to paste spaces or fancy fonts into a handle.
| Field | Username / handle | Display name |
|---|---|---|
| Example | @mayadesign | Maya Chen · Product designer |
| Length | Up to 15; this generator starts at 5 | Up to 50 characters |
| Characters | A–Z, 0–9, underscores | Can include spaces and emoji |
| Where it appears | Mentions and your profile address | The name shown on your profile and posts |
For the display name, try our Twitter font generator. For the introduction underneath it, use the Twitter bio generator.
Keep the part that makes you recognizable. For example, Maya Chen could compare a full name, an initial plus surname, or a name with a clear topic such as design. A short prefix like “by” or “hey” changes less than a long string of numbers.
Read each candidate aloud, check where the words meet and imagine using it outside one current project. A funny or aesthetic username can work well for a personal account; a professional profile may benefit from a name people can recognize immediately. Save a few options before deciding.
The suggestions are spelling and naming ideas. They do not establish ownership, availability or a connection to an existing person or brand. X’s settings provide the final check when you choose your username.
Enter a name, brand or keyword and optionally a topic. Pick a style and maximum length, then generate a batch of up to 12 handles. The tool combines your words, readable name variations and curated prefixes or endings. More ideas shows the next batch without repeating earlier handles from that set.
Yes. Generate, shortlist and copy for free, without signup or usage credits. The generator runs in your browser. Your entered details and saved handles stay in the open tab and are cleared when you refresh or close it.
No. A generated suggestion may already be taken, reserved or unavailable. Even a profile that appears not to exist is not proof of availability. Try your preferred handle in X’s username settings; X decides whether you can save it. The tool does not connect to or change your account.
Use letters A–Z, digits 0–9 and underscores. Spaces, periods, hyphens, emoji and decorative Unicode letters do not fit this handle format. This tool generates 5–15 characters, or fewer than 15 when you choose a shorter maximum. It also excludes suggestions containing the reserved terms twitter or admin. Format checks cannot guarantee registration.
X’s change-username guide says handles must be more than four characters and up to 15. Its other help pages use different wording, and shorter existing handles are not a promise that a new short handle can be claimed. We use 5–15 as a conservative range and leave the final decision to X.
Your username is the @handle used in mentions and your profile address. Your display name is the separate label above it and can be up to 50 characters. This generator makes handles. Put spaces, a longer business name or decorative lettering in your display name instead.
Yes. Both are off by default. Turn them on to include extra variations, or keep them off for letters-only ideas. Digits in your input are omitted when numbers are disabled. The working-words note shows the spelling used by the generator.
Common Latin accents are simplified, such as é to e and ø to o. For names in other scripts, enter your preferred A–Z spelling. Long multiword names may use an individual word or initials. If nothing fits, the tool asks for shorter input rather than silently chopping your name into an arbitrary fragment.
No. It uses curated word combinations and name patterns, so results appear instantly without sending your input to an AI service. It does not interpret a detailed prompt. A name and one clear topic usually give more useful results than a long sentence.
Try your name plus a subject, a short prefix, initials or one underscore. Keep the result easy to read and consistent with the identity you want to use. Generate another batch or change the style, save your favorites and confirm the final choice in X.
